"And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer." - F. Scott Fitzgerald

About Ellen
I write picture books for babies and young children and the grown-ups who read to them. When I’m not writing stories, I’m sharing them with my young granddaughter!

For many years I was an education researcher at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, studying how families are engaged in their children’s learning. I also worked as an early literacy specialist with diverse and immigrant young children and their parents, in a local affiliate of the Parent-Child Home Program, a national home visiting program. Now I volunteer as a visiting children’s book author in the Cambridge and Somerville Public Schools in Massachusetts. Long ago I earned an M.Phil. in Sociology from Columbia University.

I am also a wife, mother of two grown children, and human companion to a large cat named Rose.
