SPOOKY READS AT AESOP'S FABLE
Join us for an evening of spooky reads with some of today's best local writers. Following the readings, guests will have the opportunity to ask the authors questions as well as purchase signed copies of their books.
Tom Deady's first novel, HAVEN, won the 2016 Bram Stoker Award for Superior Achievement in a First Novel. He has since published several novels, novellas, a short story collection, and the first book in his YA horror series. He has a Master's Degree in English and Creative Writing and is a member of both the Horror Writers Association and the New England Horror Writers Association.
Trisha J. Wooldridge writes stuff that occasionally wins awards—child-friendly ones as T.J. Wooldridge. Find her in the Shirley Jackson Award-winning The Twisted Book of Shadows; some HWA Poetry Showcase volumes; all the NEHW anthologies (that she didn’t edit); and Don’t Turn Out the Lights. Her newest release is Heart, Wings, & Fire, the first book in The Princess and the Dragon fantasy series. She also lovingly tortures consenting authors with her editing talents. She spends mystical “free time” with a very patient Husband-of-Awesome; a tiny witch kitty; a rescued bay gelding; and a matronly calico mare. www.anovelfriend.com
When asked what he does, Rob Smales tends to answer “I write words.” When feeling particularly full of himself, he may go so far as “I write the words that occur to me at the time.” Groupings of these words, referred to as stories, have appeared in nearly four dozen publications and anthologies, been nominated for three Pushcart Prizes, won a couple of readers’ choice awards, and appeared three times in Ellen Datlow’s honorable mentions list regarding her Best Horror Of the Year anthologies. His most recent stories have appeared in 34 Orchard and Wicked Creatures: An Anthology of the New England Horror Writers. He hails from Salem, Massachusetts, where he works, writes, and, occasionally, sleeps.
Curtis M. Lawson is an author of unapologetically weird fiction. His work ranges from technicolor pulp adventures to bleak cosmic horror and includes BLACK HEART BOYS CHOIR, DEVIL'S NIGHT, and THE ENVIOUS NOTHING.
