Aesop's Storytime with author Annie Cronin Romano
I specialize in picture books and middle grade novels and have loved writing creatively since I could hold a pencil. At age six, I sat down at my kitchen table and wrote my first poem on a 3×3 inch scrap of paper! After graduating from Boston College with a degree in English, I went on to earn my teaching certification in high school English and a master’s degree in communication disorders. I currently work as a speech-language therapist in the public schools and write for children every chance I get. As an active member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, I am continually striving to hone my craft through critique groups, writer's networks, coursework, and writing conferences. I am also one of the founding members of the writing group 24 Carrot Writing. Chocolate is essential to my writing process.
I am a wife and mom (and by default: taxi driver, cook, counselor, housekeeper, tutor & dog-walker). Unlike some of my dear 24 Carrot Writing colleagues, who are cat people, I adore dogs. To get the photos for my home page, I bribed my cockapoo, Butters, with lots of bacon treats. She was not a fan of those glasses!
I enjoy reading (of course!), walking Butters, gardening, traveling with my family, and eating chocolate! I'm a word nerd who loves doing crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble with my kids. My favorite places to be (apart from the ocean!) are bookstores and libraries.
