⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

So far, this is my TOP recommended summer read. ☀️ I loved everything about this debut novel by Shelby Van Pelt, which was reminiscent of two of my favorite books - Olive Kitteridge and The Soul of An Octopus. After Tova Sullivan loses her husband to cancer, at the age of 70, she begins a new job cleaning at a small aquarium in the Pacific Northwest. There, she develops an unexpected relationship with the aging Giant Pacific Octopus, Marcellus. The author includes the unique perspective of the mischievous cephalopod, who considers some humans “remarkably bright creatures.” Marcellus grows fond of Tova and becomes devoted to her pursuit of the truth behind her 18-year-old son’s sudden disappearance 30 years prior. In return, Tova ensures that her eight-tentacled friend lives out the end of his days with dignity. This remarkable story will give you all the feels! 💕
