
Elevating Your Essay: Deepening, Revising, and Polishing Drafts

Need help developing a rough draft into something more? This two-hour interactive workshop is designed with activities and strategies to help you think critically about your drafts, push the insights and connections you offer further, and consider style/word choices to enhance authenticity and voice in your essays. Attendees are encouraged to send along a complete draft to be read in advance of the workshop, and should bring a copy of your essay and a personal device to the event.
Laurie Edwards is a Teaching Professor in the Writing Program at Northeastern. She has published two award-winning health/science books and her writing has appeared in the New York Times, Boston Globe, NPR, and many other outlets. She has facilitated writing workshops and courses for adults, undergraduate students, and teens, has served as a college and graduate school essay consultant for many years, and as an alumni interviewer for Georgetown University, she has long-standing insights into the college application process.
This is the 2nd session in our Bootcamp series. These stand-alone workshops are designed to complement each other, so attendees are welcome to attend as many as meet their needs and interests. The 3rd session on Supplemental Essays will meet on September 21.
