Summer Reading Assignment

Read two or more books that meet the following criteria:

  • A character who doesn’t look like you or live like you
  • A topic you don’t know much about
  • In a format that you don’t normally read (graphic novel, audio book, hybrid)

Students are required to bring in one book on the first day of school that you read over the summer. This will be used during English class.

Optional: Take a book shelfie/selfie of yourself HOLDING one of the books that you read and bring a printed photo to your English teacher.

Each English teacher has the following five book suggestions that support the above criteria:
