Summer Reading 2024

 Dover-Sherborn Middle School

Summer Reading Assignment

A major goal of the middle school English program is to encourage pleasurable and thoughtful reading of a variety of selections by outstanding writers. Summer months are an excellent time to dive into a good book and explore something that interests you.

This year, we ask that all middle school students complete the following summer reading assignment:

  • Read at least TWO books that are NEW to YOU. (Find something that you haven’t read before.)
  • Have at least one of the books with you at the start of the school year. (The book will be used for discussion and writing in your English class.)

While we will not place specific expectations about the kinds of books that you read this summer, we hope that you will use the time to seek out new titles, authors, genres and formats.

We encourage you to read as many books as possible over the next few months. Keep track and share with us next fall. We are excited to learn from you, too!

Students may email their teachers for ideas and review the book suggestions.
